Early Mornings…
People see you even when you don’t know they do.
This morning, I woke up at 4 am to make my way to the gym. Since COVID, the classes I used to go to went virtual, so I quit. But I found my way back to class, and I’ve been dutifully reporting to an empty room with a projector at 5/6 am. Usually, there’s no one else there. Maybe one or two other people max. But they’re not consistent. And I get it: an empty room isn’t very motivational.
Most mornings, I do an hour of cardio before weights, but on Tuesdays, I do the class first and then cardio. I was a little early this morning, so I decided to do fifteen extra minutes of cardio before my class.
As I made my way, I saw the same group of four women who do cardio together at 4-something. (#SquadGoals). Anyway, I spoke to them as I passed, and today, they stopped me to tell me that they’ve been watching me and talking about me. They said they’d watched my progress, and they were amazed by how much I’ve changed. They spent my entire fifteen minutes encouraging me. They even asked me my secret. I laughed and pointed around the gym. (And mentioned I’m plant-based.)
I didn’t know anyone noticed me. I definitely didn’t know anyone had been paying attention to the changes I’ve made.
I thought I was alone.
But God sent a small group of friends this morning to surround me… even though I work out by myself every day.
And only God can add angels to an empty room.
